I have 45 aluminum Miami-Dade shutters, most 7 feet long. I will start putting them up tomorrow cause at 85 it is a major task. Thanks for the Saturday post.
We are very concerned about the Englewood area. Will Monday be too late for getting someone over to put up shutters and pull down the windscreen? We are trying to get an elderly relative to take this seriously. Is Milton going to be more like Ian or the recent spare if storms that have had minimal impacts in her area?
I don't know at this point if Milton will cross north, south, or over Englewood. If it goes to the south, it's a wind but not much of a surge event. Direct hit or track to the north means winds and severe surge. The probability of severe surge is high enough that it needs to be prepared for as if it is going to happen. This same is true from the Nature Coast south to Marco Island.
I'll have a new update in a few hours with the latest. Writing now.
Thanks for your response. Her development did not get any inundation from Helene (we were there then) but some major wind damage from Ian (we were also there for that). Her hurricane protection protected her house from significant damage in Ian . We are watching you and Milton closely.

I hear you .... but REFUSE to click the heart!
Understandable. We're all gonna protest this in our own way.

Thank you for the update! It seems Milton is heading straight for us on Venice Island. No peaceful waffle eating here!
I think this is going to be a “real pumpernickel”
