Storm fatigue….you know you have it when you wake up at 3 am and go to your pad/phone/laptop and read the latest NHC updates followed closely by the dozen or so apps you downloaded telling tales and presenting trails of “data model driven” forecasts. Aaaagh! I’d be better off if there was a forecast slot machine….But than you wait….impatiently…while the doc wakes up, has his micro-brew organic tea and decides to casually acquaint us like Wilderbeasts waiting to cross the river full of big box out of stuff stores, insurance adjuster-no-show, the proverbial Presidential helicopter blowing Aunt Martha’s sacred pictures away, a thousand ant like contractors who arrive at a disaster as if they were a FEMA-we-won’t-be-here-long-be-sure-your-forms-are-complete….and in an instant, we are fully informed, no bs, no Jim Cantore (although I think he should move to the cooking channel)….just the doc, our doc! Clarity matters!

Thanks, Rick. One day at a time-- the end is almost nearly in sight. Looking forward to tracking cold fronts soon.

Me too! All quotes verbatim. She asks to look at the NHC tropical weather outlook in the morning.

That was truly a wonderful and funny post! Keep it up and maybe you and your daughter can one day be the Click and Clack, the tappet brothers equivalent of meteorology!

I'd love that. I'm a huge fan of Click and Clack and other stuff that is only sort of about the thing they are about.

Lol. You missed your calling as a comedian!! But I’m honestly glad you did; you bring some grins to our otherwise frowning faces...over just about everything these days, along with the weather! Love your daughter’s commentary! 🤣 And *always* very much appreciate your excellent, down-to-earth approach towards explaining the elements of these storms and such; not an easy task. As a NWS volunteer and general weather geek since a kid, I constantly am trying to wrap my noggin around some of this stuff. Florida is a very unique and interesting place to study weather, for sure. Thanks for all your hard work...and entertaining us at the same time!

Thanks Pat! Never a dull moment in the Florida weather world. Trying to keep it joyful whenever applicable.

Based on the response, she's already a major fan favorite. I'm going to have to work the WeatherCub (6) into the mix soon, but he didn't have Monday off school so was unavailable for guest forecaster duties.

I’m wondering if you could make a comment about the typhoon season in the western Pacific. It seems kind of quiet and I’m wondering if it corresponds with the Atlantic having a more active season. And if you don’t know the answer, I’m sure your daughter does! 😂😂😂

Interestingly, the EPAC, WPAC, and Atlantic are all running above average this year:

The WPAC has been quiet recently but looks to perk up again soon. Typically the Pacific basins' ACE are negatively correlated with Atlantic ACE, so it's really the Atlantic doing something totally bizarre this year.
