We are in Nokomis also, in Baypoint. Couldn’t believe the high tide this morning going down Albee Rd toward the beach. It’s hard to imagine what an incoming tide and storm surge might look like later in the afternoon.
Haha, thanks. I have around 1 kWh of backup battery power, a gas/propane generator for after the storm, and three forms of comms. We'll see how those redundancies perform.
Your concise, clear, and informative posts are so helpful in assessing risk and making smart decisions in the face of an apporaching storm. Appreciate it!
Dr. Ryan, Thank you so much for keeping us updated on these storms. Your easy to read. and graphics are also easy to understand. I, for one, really appreciate the time and effort you put forth to keep us all informed and safe!
We Floridians all fare much better with you in our lives, Ryan. Sometimes of course you have to take your own advice. You've replaced The Weather Channel as my go-to hurricane adviser. Watching them yesterday, I was surprised to hear them say as far as the track was concerned that it wasn't set in stone with no mention of the Mississippi Valley low or the high off North Carolina steering Helene in the narrow channel between them. Yay for WeatherTiger learning!.
Really appreciate all your updates. Here in Naples we have had periodic rain but nothing real heavy. Winds aren’t supposed to pick up until this afternoon. I hope your wife’s surgery went well and she is home and safe with you.
thank you for building your knowledge base to interpret all this very complex information stream...huge resource in the personal security dept. stay safe, and know we will be....
Not to ask an entirely stupid question, but my daughter attends FSU - she’s reluctant to leave, though she could stay with family in North Carolina. Do you recommend those able to do so to evacuate Tallahassee?
Stay safe, appreciate all you do. FYI, I am in Nokomis, had a wind gust of 38 mph, about .77 inches of rain so far. Currently blue sky and clouds.

I'd loan you my big Honda generator but don't think there is anyway to get it to you in time. Stay safe.
