As for late October, do not forget hurricane Willma.
A classic example of how the hurricane threat persists into late October in South/Southwest Florida.
I was surprised to see many ensemble members in the 12Z ECMWF with a strong storm.
Me too. I don't want to be completely dismissive of the run, but the environment in the eastern Gulf is pretty marginal.
Both the GFS and ECMWF ensembles are sticking with the stronger storm idea. Interesting to see what will actually happen.
